My 2008 Skoda Octavia VRS CR with 172k miles had the three lights on – glow plug, engine and dpf – and went into limp mode. Dealer replaced temp sensor but didn’t help. They tried to force a regen but said the soot level was 47% and it needed to be < 45% to do it.

Friend plugged car in to his reader, P2455. Had this twice i had given car 2 good runs 60mph 2-2500 rpm 4th gear seemed ok for 2wk. Had 2 good runs sat sun, light on again.
So at least the Skoda ECU is detecting a problem and letting you get it sorted. Actual DPF failures in Octavias are still very, very rare. When it's in at the dealers make sure it has had the DPF campaign work carries out which consists of a different pressure sensor and an ECU flash upgrade.

This raises the combustion temperature and lets the DPF reach a high enough temperature to vaporise all the junk out of it. This generally works. Every so often we have to take the filters off and take them to a professional company to get cleaned. This is a specialist process involving high temperatures, lots of pressure and chemicals.
In the Yeti's engine installation the DPF is very close indeed to the turbo's exhaust outlet. Which enables it to get up to light off temp very rapidly in the journey, compared to a number of other, older installations. That means regens can be more effective over the distances you are talking about.
